traceses are made to catch fish these traces are made with one thing in mind

therefore traces are made of heaverier line than the main line you are using

because of this knots and there strenghts are brought into factores of the traces

knots that go to the main line are rated to the line of the person using the main line by saying this its the heaveir that the traces line is the lesser the knots have to be and this makes for question in knots

why are we so intent on knots and there strengths this is questionable when using traces that are heavier than the main line

its alright to say the stronger the line the better the knot should be but again this relates to the trace line strength

examples are twenty pound line traces needs a knot that is 70 to 80 percent if the main line is twelve pound line

so knots to the swivel don’t have to be so strong its only the chose of knot used is up to the person tying the knots to the main line

this is confusing and so i use loop knots to the swivel from the traces these is for two reasons

a} its easy to tye

b} works better at taking twist out of the line

by using a loop the lines is not directerly related to the swivel this gives the swive a active ablity to work better

with the trace line tied to the swivel with a fishing knot that is not static as the loop

the swivel is stressed at all times by being ridged to the swivel
